This might have been discussed before, but we now have an official project for any kind of example/starter modules with the Example modules. We want to add an example token module for D6 and D7, and I think we should basically cleanup the tokenSTARTER.module and move it there.

It makes sense, and it is the right thing to do, IMO.

If users would need custom tokens for their sites, they can only create a custom module, and take Token STARTER as base to build their own module; they cannot simply change the existing module, because each time they would update Token they would lost the customizations they did (or they should be careful to not copy the tokenSTARTER.module over the previous version).
