Hello Drupal Users,

I'd like advice on migrating (converting) my writer's group website to Drupal, but don't know where and how to begin.

The original programmer/developer installed Mambo, and to be honest, it's confusing and hard to use. I've asked around and have been told that Drupal and Joomla are tops for ease of use and functionality.

If there are any local and patient users in the NY tri-state area willing to advise/walk me through the beginnings stages of migration, please e-mail soon.

I'm a freelance writer/editor, not a programmer or at all technical.

I have a new programmer who is updating the site/adding a new design template in Mambo, and he's just as frustrated, if not more, than I am as an administrator on the site updating content.

Regards,

Morningside Writers

Help is free and near :)

Welcome to Drupal - the community is ever helpful and friendly - provided you dont harrass them or say negative things about Drupal.

Drupal is capable of many things in spite of its default theme - but that can be configured by a fairly CSS-competent guy

I cant help with migrating the database, cause my experience was not that pretty

But there is already a forum and a `script' which is free available for Mambo-to-Drupal migration, just search inside here or ask around the fellas.

I recommend you to first fiddling with Drupal categorization system - which is called `taxonomy;

Good luck
