Eggplant Active Media Workers’ Collective is Seeking a Full-Time Web Programmer to Join Our Team

Eggplant Active Media Workers’ Collective (EAM) is a worker-owned cooperative providing new media services to progressive and non-profit organizations working for positive social change. EAM is a worker-owned and democratically-run organization of technology and media activists working together to create efficient strategic solutions using a free/open-source development model that reflects our values—that technology should be open, accessible, and empowering. This position also provides the long-term opportunity for ownership in the organization.

Requirements

Job Skills:

* Must have 4+ years PHP experience
* Must have installed, configured and maintained with timely upgrades and security fixes at least 4 major Drupal-based (or other open source CMS) websites, including module analysis and implementation and custom code development
* Must have experience using XHTML
* Must have experience using CSS
* Must have a proven track record of meeting deadlines, writing code to standards
* Must have the ability to communicate extremely clearly and effectively in person, via phone, email, and IRC/instant messenging

Job Environment:

* Must be familiar with non-profit and progressive organizations and politics
* Must be capable of working remotely using a variety of communication methods
* Must be self-motivated and have the discipline to work without supervision
* Must be capable of self-initiated learning for job tasks
* Must be adaptive to differing project needs and environments
* Must be willing to have fun!

Additional Skills and Experience:

* Experience working with MySQL databases, Perl, GNU/Linux (Debian) and general F/OSS philosophy
* Familiarity with Javascript and AJAX
* Knowledge of CiviCRM and Ruby on Rails a plus

This position is available July 15, 2006. Location in, or relocation to central Vermont is a plus but is not required.
