I want to do an upgrade from drupal-4.6.4 to drupal-4.6.8
in the upgrade documentation, it says this:
"Remove all the old Drupal files then unpack the new Drupal
files into the directory that you run Drupal from."

does that mean I should move the entire Drupal-4.6.4 tree aside and unpack the new Drupal-4.6.8?
aren't there modules that should be kept rather than reinstalling them?
I also have a custom theme which I assume I can copy into the new theme directory.

thanks for any tips.

Here is what I did to upgrade. Note, I did backup everything before proceeding.

I'll try it with your notes.

I just did the upgrade from 4.6.6 to 4.6.7

after running upgrade.php all went well.
then, I copied my custom modules and theme to the new modules and themes directory.
when I went to the site, my front page was completely distorted.
luckily, I backed up both the database and my drupal web.
I had to revert back to 4.6.6

can anyone let me know how to upgrade the database manually for 4.6.7?
I don't know if the problem was with the database upgrade or drupal-4.6.7 files
I'm just not sure.
if anyone has advice or comments, please help.

thanks.
Susan
