The module should include a small clock_uninstall() to delete the variables.
Maybe for consistency also a small clock_install() to create the variables.

It seems that it's not the Drupal way to install variables on install.
Since I can't roll a patch with new files, I will just commit the changes in a minute, without uploading a proper patch.
