Is there any free hosting service that I can try drupal on?
I dont cuurently need big bandwidth, or to make the database too large...just need it to work for some testings first (no use to actually waste money on a test site... I think)

Why don't you just setup your own server, from home with for ex. EasyPHP, to be able to do it fast and free [windows version].

Im currently working for a client that have a server but I put up a testing server at home to access from the office. This way i can edit the information at the office and costum the Drupal theme from home.

When you are done with the testserver, save Drupal and export the database and upload it all on the live server.
Done, and paid! :)

EasyPHP, gives you access to an Apache server, PHP, MySQL and PhpMyAdmin, once installed. Remember to open your firewall for the Webbserver and make EasyPHP accessable for the Internet by editing the http.conf file in Apache.

Downside of EasyPHP: uses old systems.
Apache 1.3, PHP4, and so on.

It would seem that now, as the administrator of the server, I first need to do some basic stuff (for example, to give myself a user name and password for MySql..)

however, this wamp has very lame support, so I got no clue on how to do those basic things needed in order to install drupal..

there is no pass by default as far as i know - just use "root" as the username and no pass.

I'm pretty sure that that's how it works.

I installed WAMP + drupal on my own pc here about 2 weeks ago in minutes. And we're not talking about 15-20 mins - we're talking about 3-4 mins.

There is quite a bit of documentation on using these types of test setups locally and it would really be in your own best interests to take the time to become familier with the technology or the setup. This will help you down the line as you are implementing your production site, testing backup/restores, testing new features before you try them live, etc...
