hi all, i am new to php and drupal but learning quickly and am in love with drupal. we are porting our site from a propietary cms to drupal.

we have a navigation section called "articles" that lists all nodes under that parent category. the problem is that th articles are listed in order they were imported. we want them listable by title alphabetically, or by author alphabetically, and also ideally with a sub-category of listings so thy can be viewed by category.

we installed the views module, which looks promising, and i walkedthrough the tutorials on block and page view building. i think i am failing to understand something fundamental, b/c i can get a list but not under parent category = 'articles' and i can't get a teaser to show up. i was able to create the view page and link to its url, but can't seem to configure it properly.
