I have set up a site with 5 documents in English and 5 corresponding translation in Chinese. All the original documents have URL aliases.

1. I created five items in Primary Links to point to the 5 documents (using URL aliases), the five items are set to "All languages" and I use "Translation Interface" to translate the menu items. When I switch to Chinese, the menu items disappear. Some time when I am in the home page and switch the language, the Chinese menu appears. But as soon as I switch to another page, they disappear.

2. I deleted the five menu items and created them again, this time using node/xx instead of the URL aliases. Same problem.

3. I deleted the five menu items and created another 5, setting the language to English this time. Then I create 5 more menu items with Chinese translation, setting the language to Chinese. This has worked in a previous Drupal 6 installation. Same problem.

4. I deleted all the menu items and started again. This time setting all the items to "All languages" and use a full URL path for the English document. Now the menu items do not disappear. But language switching no longer not work. When I am in Chinese and click on the menu, I get the document in English.

Any help will be most appreciated.

I tried one more thing. I created a 6th document and added a sixth item to the menu. The language of the document is set as English, with no translation. I view this document and switch the language to Chinese, the menu remains. I switch to another Chinese page, and the menu disappears.

Is this issue fixed in the latest D6? is there any interest in pursuing this issue?
