Could the theme cause a server error [#632238]

Hi Jeff,

Earlier today I logged a problem regarding the QuickTabs module ( http://drupal.org/node/631778 ) and following their advice I tried changing my default theme to Garland to test things and as soon as I hit "Save" I got this ...

Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@xxxxx.xx.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I had to restore the database to an earlier version to recover the site, nothing else worked.

Is there anything in AdaptiveTheme which might have changed things around to the extent that I cannot change to Garland, honestly I do not think it is anything to do with you but I've got to ask.

I am asking my ISP if they have any further information since the logs I have access to don't show much and if I get anything useful I'll let you know.

You'll really need the error logs to nail down why the Internal Server Error occurred, I would think its highly unlikely this has anything to do with the theme. The host might be able to tell you what happened but its like looking for a needle in a very large haystack.

The other issue with QT page lenght is a theming issue (as the QT guys point out) - I'm not sure I follow your explanation 100% but I wonder if you are using the equal heights columns feature? Seeing the test site would help a lot.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the reply, I have now got an email from my ISP, they do not give any more information from the error logs but they do say they have been making changes to the servers while setting up a new data center and that the problems are their fault.

I have been trying to access the site again today and am having a lot of problems with pages missing and more internal errors, so I am going to leave it a couple of days and get back to it next week by which time I hope they will have things back to normal.

I wasn't going to bother you with the QT problem until I had had a chance to check out the QT teams suggestions, so thanks for thinking about it and yes I do have the equal length setting enabled, if I need to I will log this here as a seperate issue and once I have had a chance to check the site I can let you have the address so that you can get a look if needed.
