Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let you know I opened today (http://totallytechy.com/blogs/news/launched) and am now officially using UberPOS as a live system. I got the receipt printing directly to my laser, stock deducting and apart from the attribute problem I had, it worked great (not that I did many sales - it was torrential rain!). There are a few workflow things that are hard coming from a 'proper' epos system, but I really think this is a well designed and programmed module and I hope many more people use it.

Thanks very much for your effort with this module :).

P.

good to hear. let's keep making uberpos better!

You wrote: "There are a few workflow things that are hard coming from a 'proper' epos system"

I wonder if you have any suggestions to make things easier? What are the features you're most missing?

Cool. Coming from a normal epos system and off the top of my head, a couple of things that I find difficult or miss

1. Pressing cash should just cash off (same for card etc) at the total price. I never enter what the customer gives me on a normal till, I work out the change myself.

2. When cashing off it should automatically clear the transaction ready for the next customer. Using the status box to show completed and change due?

3. Stock Lookup which comes with most epos. It means you can search for an item by keyword, SKU etc and then see the list showing the item, price, in stock etc BEFORE adding it to the transaction. Obviously you can go search the website or look through ubercarts admin, but its not very user friendly (or fast).

Thanks,
Paul.

edit: I think I should have pressed clear instead. A terminology/methology confusion for me. As I had cashed the previous order off I assumed cancel would cancel the new order (allbeit with old items).

Came across a problem - I think - linked to 2. above. I cashed an item off and printed reciept. I then accidently added another item from the next customer. I cancelled and started this customer correctly. I then went into orders and see that the previous one which was cashed off has now been cancelled.

Your edit is correct. You would have wanted to void the new item you added and then press clear.

This does bring up the point that you probably shouldn't be able to add an item to a completed order.

I agree - this is what is confusing me. I thought maybe it was deliberate in case you cash off and then the customer adds something etc, but I would normally just add another sale.

Great comments Paul. I'm marking this thread as fixed and splitting it off into three issues corresponding to your three main points above.

1. #627676: CA/CK/CC commands without arguments should default to entering the total due

2. #595578: Product Search

3. #627688: Clean up workflow from old completed order to new order
