I heard that filefield will be in D7 core. Does this mean the upload module will be removed? If so, will there be a way to transfer all upload module files to filefield files?

Drupal 7 has been released. The upload module has been removed in favour of the new Field API. An upgrade path is included in core to move from the upload module to the new Field API.
