I have a 4.6 install on a server with php4.4.1 (which I'm going to "upgrade" to 4.7rc2 (can't really call it an upgrade til it's stable, but I like 4.7 :P) and a 4.7rc2 running on a php4.3.something. System requirements
You can find detailed system requirements in the handbook. Anything lower than PHP 4.3.3 is not going to work.
