Dear All,

I am considering building a website with Drupal for stats and research info.

The information maybe in the form of reports, and I also need someway of users adding information into a, perhaps, a database.

For example, the area in question that will be covered will be a Local Authority in the UK i.e. a Borough of 27 wards. Within this someone might want to know how schools have performed in the last say, 5 years - there would be a query section then somesort of graphing function (say a line chart plotting the results over this five year period).

Additionally I would like a news letter which would allow people to subscribe and inform them when new information is available and what new research is planned.

Would Drupal be able to do this?
I suspect I may have a CMS section for the news/reports/info and home then a mySQL for the stats and some ofther software for the hraphs - any assistance or uggestions would be gratefully recieved!

OK, you will need to install yourself new modules, or maybe you want to try CivicCRM version of Drupal (7 Megabytes). If you are not comfortable with installing new modules, ask somebody else to do for you.

Simplenews.module? Sent by emails, people dont have to register as your site's users, they only have to enter their emails on the Subscribe block. You can do that for people's emails but be careful if they consider invading privacy, ask for their permissions for you to subscribe for them.

For the stats/report stuff, better ask for experts (like Sepeck or http://2bits.com or many other nice peoples around here :) cause we are not realy sure about it.
