So I turned my site to off-line in my settings shortly after installing 4.7.0 RC 1 assuming that my login would be example.com/user/login but this is not working. Am I going somewhere wrong here?

I wasn't sure if it was just me or what, but I locked myself out today as well while using 4.7.0 RC1 after, like you, setting my web site to "off line." I tried logging in using the various methods described at http://drupal.org/node/41885 but no luck under any method.

I decided I would simply reload everything (directories, files, and database) since I'm starting my web site from scratch and have zero data to worry about. Plus with CuteFTP Pro, it only takes less than 5 minutes to reload everything.

If this lockout persists for you, please go ahead and enter it as a critical issue under Bug reports if, after doing a quick search of issues already posted, it hasn't already been reported. Please be sure to enter step by step instructions on how to reproduce your issue so that other folks can properly diagnose it and fix it.

If you submit this as an issue, please come back here and include the URL so others can look up the status.

Thank you and good luck.

The only URL that is allowed through when your site goes offline is example.com/user which is contrary to the common example.com/user/login. By using example.com/user I was able to make it work. But only after clearing my database and reloading was I able to figure this out. Thank God for test sites.

Please file a feature request to display the URL instead of a hyperlink OR to display somekind of login link in the default maintenance text.

It's a good candidate question for the Troubleshooting FAQ.
