I want to make a community website , so that people can make profile ... and later they can edit profiles and add pictures. and can search the profiles of other users , and after that they can add the users to their friends list...please tell me if drupal is suitable for me and which modules i need for this purpose.thank you very much.

I currently run a community site at Dashboard Monkey where users have their own profiles and images etc and also keep their own blogs about their car pc installs.
Perhaps check out the civicspace distribution of drupal as that has lots of stuff that is extra?

To get you the idea of how Drupal can expand your profile needs:
Go to admin/setings/profile
You can add single, multiple textfield area (names, address, etc), and multiple choices
For user pictures:
Enable user picture support in settings. During user register/update profile, he/she can upload picture. And specify size of the pic (max size).
Searching profiles of other users are also enabled
And you can use FOAF (Friend of a Friend) - import existing FOAF if user has already one
BUDDYLIST is also useful to keep track of users/friends
