I have not been able to successfully upgrade a Site5 Fantastico (scripted install) drupal 4.6.5 intall to a 4.7 beta6 install. I have a request into site5 to find out if their Fantastico version has any unique characteristics that would make this a problem. However it is likely I am simply not understanding something clearly regarding the upgrade process. I have searched this site and read the upgrade instructions.

BTW, I am comfortable with the beta status of 4.7 and look forward to learning more about drupal thorugh this process and hopefully working my way toward becoming a more engaged drupal user. My main issue is that something is up with the Fantastico version or I'm just not "clicking" on this upgrade procedure.

Here's how I have tired to upgrade:

1. Backup all current drupal files and mysql database
2. Login as admin user
3. Turn off all extra modules
4. Delete old version drupal files
5. ftp up new version of drupal
6. Copy back over .htaccess and settings.php and files directory
7. Run upgrade.php only to get lots of error messages (I have also tried to login at this point before running upgrade.php with the same list of error messages).

Any feedback or advice is appreciated. Thanks.

You process sounds right. You need to post your error messages before anyone can help you.

I think it had to do with the Fantastico install of drupal from site5. I kept the same database and then deleted all of the drupal 4.6.5 files. I brought in the 4.6.6 files via ftp and that worked fine. Then I followed the same upgrade method and it worked this time.

I did hear from someone else using site5 that they were able to upgrade from the Frantastico install of drupal, so I'm still not exactly sure what happened.

Thanks.
