Heartwood Chapter - Texas Master Naturalists

Our acct at NetFirms does not allow .htaccess files except for error pages and password protect. Will Drupal still run? If so, what would be compromised?

The site is currently managed by a CMS called Guppy. I'd like to be certain the data was all transferred and displaying before disrupting the site. Could I install Drupal in a subdirectory to test the content displayed before taking down the current pages?

We have a lot of Viewers that are non-members and only wish to browse the Events and Links. Does Drupal require every viewer that comes to our site to create a UserName/password?

Thanking you in advance for any responses.

As far as i know:
- htaccess is used for clean URLs so you will get addresses such as www.example.com/index.php?q=corp-policies

- You can test it before it is live

- You can have anonymous access which means users can browse the site without having to sign up

Other people can correct me if I am wrong.

You can set `anonymous users' to view what types of contents
for example only events and weblinks, webform, feedback, etc
