Hi,

I am about to embark on a new web site project and was considering using a CMS instead publishing a normal static web site.

What I want to do is create a football club directory site where site visitors can search for football clubs in their area. Also I want football clubs to be able to submit their details for addition to the site and the site be able to automatically include their submission in the directory.

I had a site like this when the Internet first started but had to close it down because of the time involved in manually adding club details to the various pages.

Can Drupal handle this kind of thing?

Also is it easy to customise the look and feel of the themes?

Any help appreciated.

Kind Regards

I think I can answer my own question above and it doesn't appear that Drupal has a link/directory module. However, in saying that I am extremely impressed with what I have found so far with Drupal. Initially after installing Drupal it seemed pretty frustrating to work with, but once I dug a little deeper I have found it to be so very useful even without a directory module.

So my advice to newbies like myself is before you disregard Drupal out of hat spend 24 hours really hooking in and experimenting. Once you learn your way around it you will find a very powerful and extremely user friendly CMS.

I am going to stick with Drupal because I have tried several other CMS systems including Mambo, PHP Website, PHP Nuke etc and Drupal by far seems to be the easiest and most stable of the lot. I am sure that as my site progresses there will be some more useful modules I can utilise.

Have a look at www.footballaustralia.info for an example of what I have been able to put together in 24 hours. Please excuse the fact that it is a work in progress though and any comments would be appreciated.

Cheers
Rob :)
