Hi,
I wanted to know how I can add static content to the drupal main page.
For example, If you see the spread firefox main page, there are some static stuff on the top, which is followed by news.
I want to do something like that. How do I do it?
bye

Create a new node and set it
Create a new node and set it to "promote to frontpage" and "sticky at top of lists".
Put it it the site mission
If you want it to spread across above the left and right sidebars like it does at spread firefox or drupal.org, you need to (assuming you are using a PHPTemplate theme) rearrange your page.tpl.php a little.
eg move the bit that prints the mission higher up just after the menu stuff.
You can still use sticky nodes as well for nodes you want to keep around.
eg on drupal.org you can see the mission is the drupal introduction bit, while the latest release bit is a stickt node.
