I currently have 4.6 running in the root of my website. I am thinking about installing 4.7 beta 4 in a directory on the same web host (sitename.com/test) so I can play with it. Is this going to mess up anything with the primary site, or will it be totally isolated? I assume if I create a different database in mySQL that will keep the database isolated. Is there anything I may not be aware of that is going to cause problems?

I have exactly that kind of set up and have had no problems whatsoever. I have two different sets of databases. I just have to remember which database is which when I'm messing about.

In fact, I often export the databases from my main site to test how 4.7 is dealing with the old data.
