I've been looking thorugh the various site options but haven't found it...
Comments
You'll need to install a module
eg the notify.module
There are subscription modules etc as well. Try them out to see which one you prefer.
Unless you meant comments on drupal.org?

CommentMail Module
It's for 4.7, but I've committed a module called commentmail. It does exactly what you're looking for. I haven't created a project for it yet, but you can find it here:

You might also consider rss...
to achieve a similar, yet different functionality.
RSS in email
I think you can use RSS in your email program, if you use a client such as Thunderbird.

Is there an RSS feed of all comments?
Where is it? I'm looking and don't see a feed for that...
commentrss.module is what
commentrss.module is what you need.
does anyone know if the notify.module works for comment and post in the approval que?
Excellent
Looks like it did the trick for my situation
Well, actually, it appears it did *not* do the trick...
I wanted to be notified when an anonymous user posted a commented, so I could go review it, and publish it, if I find it acceptable (i.e., not spam).
Well, the comment feed appears to only show published comments. :-/
I'll have to look into notify.module.

did you checkout
did you checkout http://drupal.org/node/79980 already?
why commentsrss?
why does RSS do the trick?
my users don't subscribe to rss comment feeds - they got an email notification for the last years... why should that change ?
After searching for hours and days I just started developing "comment_notify"
