I updated the 5.x versions to their 6.x counterparts. I pulled them out to make them proper plugins so they're a little bit easier to see in the future, though the code itself is unchanged. The problem with doing that, of course, is that I have to attach the new files. =)

The relationships go in plugins/relationships in the respective modules (the directory structure can be changed easily enough, just modify what it returns in the patch if you want it elsewhere).

I can't say I tested this, but I can probably trust the author, and it would be a shame not to have that in the forthcoming release.
I only changed the directories to (node|user)reference/panels/relationships, to match what is already in place for content.module.
