I've tried adding content to a panel overwriting /user/%user on both alpha3 and alpha4. And the content doesn't get saved.

I'm using ctools alpha3. Should I use the dev-version with panels alpha4?

When this happens do you get any kind of errors in your watchdog or apache/php error log?
