This is what I want too!
I don't want to add a new theme for it I just want to add another line of text to "Once you have completed this form an email containing your password will be sent to your email address. Once you have logged in with this password you can change it by going to My account and clicking Edit."

Hi
After upgrading a site from d6 to d7, I spent several hours trying to figure out how to this (which was easy to do in d6 at admin/user/settings)
If you go to admin/people/config/accounts in d7 (which shows the same stuff as admin/user/settings), you will note that the user registration guidelines box is gone (which is what you are looking for).
Finally found it. It has been moved to a block, which gets place in the help region (only for the user registration page).
Go to admin/structure/blocks and find the User Registration Guidelines block. Click configure, and you will see what you are looking for
Enjoy!
