I've seen all the posts and I've updated phi.ini already and it still does not work. I also noticed I have similar errors with the initial start-up script. I did a test on my local PC with the same set of programs with no errors and the email works. Our production environment is Windows server 2003 with Wampserver installed.
mail() [function.mail]: Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in C:\wamp\www\includes\common.inc on line 1996.

ainigma32 CreditAttribution: ainigma32 commentedAre you sure port 25 is reachable on the server? Have you tried connecting with a local command prompt?

Feel free to reopen if you think that is wrong.

willow315 CreditAttribution: willow315 commentedI've changed this request a bit. I'm running Windows 2003 on a virtual development server, using an IP address only. No domain name.
I'm running IIS6 and have installed SMTP. I've set up the php.ini a number of different ways at the SMTP spot. Out IT guy has set up a mail account on our Exchange server and sent me the IP address for that. I'm assuming it's still port 25. So for that I had a "from" email to put into Drupal.
For the local SMTP setup I'm at a loss. How do you get a "from" email address to put into Drupal without setting up some kind of email account?
I really need some help here. And I've heard nothing in all the posts I've ready that actually resolve the problem. And if it has been resolved, those who have posted must be so excited that it's working that they refrained from mentioning exactly how they did it.
Help and thanks in advance, WCW wwright@wusf.org. I put my email down because I've posted in so many places and threads, I'll never find them, and maybe some gracious soul will take pitty on my and help me out.
:) thanks again WCW
