When I try to have custom colors in any theme, they won't appear when I save. What happens is that my page is only plain text with no colors at all. I have to reset the theme to get the colors again, but can't get customized colors. This is for every themes I have tried, both preinstalled and downloaded. It looks fine in the preview. What is wrong here? Please help me with this. I am new with drupal.

Fixed it!
I just empty the .htaccess file in the sites/default/files folder.
Thank you!
This has been frustrating me for days. Such a relief!
It works.
Any change I'd make in a color (even selecting a predefined color scheme), or trying to use my own logo resulted in a total loss of all colors and absence of logo. Substituting an empty .htaccess in sites/default/files made the Appearance functionalities work as advertised. Very strange. I reverted to the old .htaccess content after having made the changes and lost all colors and logo. I again substituted the empty .htaccess and the changes I wanted re-appeared. I don't know what in the distro .htaccess file is causing the problem.
