Does anybody know if there already is a module that allows to select specific nodes and then automatically generate a newsletter from their abstracts?

Thanks for the link, Seth. I have installed epublish and I can see how to collect posts to display them in a magazine-style, but no way to pass content to a mailing list. Am I missing something?

epublish isn't for email newsletters, but for building 'volumes' (or whatever you want to call a collection of items.

You certainly could use or make another module send out that collection, or write a patch to epublish to add that.
