0️⃣ Who is here today? Comment in the thread to introduce yourself. We’ll keep the meeting open for 24 hours to allow for all timezones.
| quietone | Hi |
| kimb0 | hello! |
| lendude | Hoi! |
| Tinto | G’day! |
| smustgrave | Morning |
| ambermatz | Hello |
| jibran | Hi! |
| catch | Nat, joining late. |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Kristen, California, catching up while waiting for a client to respond during launch time! |
| dww | Derek @ TEN7, catching up very late. |
0️⃣.5️⃣ You can see any artist, living/dead/broken up and in any location, who do you see and where?
| quietone | Bakers Eddy |
| kimb0 | The Beatles |
| larowlan | Going with Fela Kuti or Curtis Mayfield |
| lendude | Nirvana at the Paradiso (edited) |
| Tinto | Grizzly Bear! Any venue will do. I kept postponing to go see them live and then they broke up in 2020. |
| ambermatz | Django Reinhardt |
| jibran | Maybe, MJ, if it not too controversial to say. |
| catch | Rahsaan Roland Kirk, some point between 1966 and 1972 |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Oh... when I saw "artist", my brain went to Van Gogh, Picasso, Monet, Renoir, Kandinsky, etc... I think I'd like to hang out with some eccentric painter for a bit to see what makes them tick... I guess in Europe somewhere? Wherever they are living at the time :slightly_smiling_face: (edited) |
1️⃣ Do you have suggested topics you are looking to discuss? Post in this thread and we’ll open threads for them as appropriate.
| quietone | add to the contributor task for making a screenshot that the screenshots need to be in the IS. |
| quietone | Should we pursue having a contributor task made for 'How to prepare for a Usability review' |
| Tinto | In the past few months I’ve noticed that I’m constantly learning new things - and discovering new things to learn about every week. So perhaps an interesting recurring meeting topic would be: “What are you learning / planning to learn this fortnight?” |
| Tinto | Answers could vary from “how to correctly set an issue to RTBC” to “the basics of (writing) automated tests”. (edited) |
| Tinto | I think it’s important to emphasize - especially for new contributors coming in - that the learning process is a very very important aspect for everyone here. Probably even for very experienced contributors. |
| smustgrave | Brought this up before but maybe a reviewing initiative? Currently almost 2900 tickets in review. Many still need work but some have been up for years. |
| larowlan | I've added
to my agenda template cc @Griffyn Heels |
| larowlan | I'll add 'review initiative' question to next meeting agenda. I agree its a big target |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Definitely interested in hearing thoughts about the 'reviewing initiative" and any big bugsmash events that will be organized |
2️⃣.1️⃣ Wins - what wins have you had since the last meeting? Share your successes!
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Not bugsmash, but we had a successful Drupal 10 porting event last week!!!!!!! |
2️⃣.2️⃣ Thanks - a space for callouts to other contributors who’ve helped you
| quietone | @smustgrave for reviewing many, many issues and sticking with them to commit. |
| Tinto | Thank you @smustgrave for all the time you’ve put into Drupal these last few weeks |
| Tinto | And (again) @Kristen Pol (she/her), @surabhi.gokte and everyone else involved in the D10 Porting event last week. |
| ambermatz | Thanks @xjm for so much great info and insight into questions posed in this channel. Really appreciate the in-depth discussions. |
| jibran | Thank you Lee for running this meeting. |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Thanks to everyone who's been keeping this initiative going! |
2️⃣.3️⃣ Blockers - what’s getting in the way of your issues / goals
| quietone | Flus passing round the family |
| larowlan | work |
| kimb0 | covid |
| lendude | big new project at work |
| Tinto | Client work and busy weekends |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Site launch (today!!!!) and the Drupal 10 porting day organization and mentoring... and now I need some down time as I'm burnt toast |
2️⃣.4️⃣ :loudspeaker: If you helped with the triage since the last meeting then don't forget to post a comment to triage issue on d.o.
| larowlan | #3298725: [Meta] Bug Smash Initiative triage fortnight commencing 2022-07-19 |
2️⃣.5️⃣ Approve last fortnight's minutes
| larowlan | #3298724: Meeting of the Bug Smash Initiative 2022-08-02 |
| quietone | In the minutes who is Luke.Leber? |
| larowlan | @lleber |
3️⃣ Core bug statistics - current state of open bugs
| quietone | Today: 2022-08-02
From: 2022-07-19 to 2022-08-02 All bugs Status Count Approximately 267 yr reduction in total number of years of all open bugs. Only bugs tagged Bug Smash Initiative Status Count Approximately 193 yr reduction in total number of years of all open bugs. |
| quietone | Priority (goal): actual Critical (50): 60 Major (1000): 968 Normal (6000): 4996 Minor (300): 378 |
| lendude | Oh no! we almost made our goals! Quick somebody open some bugs! |
| Tinto | Do we need to start planning for a party?… |
| jibran | 10 Critical will be challenging. |
| catch | Under 5,000 normal bugs is quite a milestone, I wonder when it was last like that... |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Great work, everyone :tada: |
4️⃣ Lets check back on our targets and set some new ones
| larowlan | :purple_alert: critical #2860607: Code execution via Twig templates (including inline) (edited) |
| larowlan | :military_helmet: major https://www.drupal.org/node/2387069 |
| larowlan | :dart: normal #1937266: BlockContent entities uses delete method instead of pre/postdelete |
| larowlan | :dart: normal https://www.drupal.org/node/3204958 |
5️⃣ Help me - Is there anything you could use a :hand:
| ambermatz | I've drafted changes to pages in the Bug Smash Initiative guide on drupal.org in this google doc. Since it involves splitting the guide into 2 pages (Intro and Comment Templates), I would love some feedback/signoff of some kind before I move forward. (Note: I'm about to be out-of-pocket until Aug 22, so I probably won't be responding to questions until then.) See this discussion for context. |
6️⃣ Let's look back at PMNMI issues that we can close this fortnight
| larowlan | https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C014QES6HSQ/p1658203765256729 for discussion around process |
| quietone | I just had a peek at them. And the first three were ones I put the 3 month notice on. |
| quietone | 2/3 of the PMNMI issues (356 out of 538) are tagged Bugsmash. |
| quietone | There should be low hanging fruit in there. |
| larowlan | yeah I know what I want to do on sprint day for DrupalSouth :excellent: |
| borisson_ | I went trough some even older issues and closed a couple already , is there a standard message we can use for issues to say that this is unclear/please reopen when it is more clear?I've used this so far.
|
| ambermatz | @borisson_ Are any of these comment templates helpful? https://www.drupal.org/community-initiatives/bug-smash-initiative/issue-... |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | Wow! Nice coverage https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C014QES6HSQ/p1659415021672289?thread_t... |
| borisson_ | https://drupal.slack.com/archives/C014QES6HSQ/p1659464476955299?thread_t... are very helpful, thanks! |
7️⃣ add to the contributor task for making a screenshot that the screenshots need to be in the IS via @quietone
| larowlan | Yes, screenshots that aren't embed are another barrier to review |
| quietone | Link to the task, https://www.drupal.org/community/contributor-guide/task/add-screenshots-... |
| quietone | Should they be embedded or say a link to the comment? (edited) |
| larowlan | I think embedded in a comment with a link from the IS (e.g. anchor link) if the IS is too big already, but maybe a question for UX team |
| Tinto | Are screenshots mentioned in the issue summary templates? |
| Tinto |
Are screenshots mentioned in the issue summary templates? Oops, just saw this mentioned in task mentioned by @quietone (Step 11). Sorry. (edited) |
| ambermatz | I see a lot of mis-use or rather unhelpful use of screenshots in issues. Like screenshots of a patch applying. Perhaps adding clarification about the goal of a screenshot to https://www.drupal.org/community/contributor-guide/task/add-screenshots-... would be a good idea. |
| catch | Clarification + recommendation to embed both sounds good. |
| Kristen Pol (she/her) | I try to encourage embedding images and have recommended dreditor to many for this task... I wish people could drag/drop :slightly_smiling_face: |
8️⃣ Should we pursue having a contributor task made for 'How to prepare for a Usability review' via @quietone
| larowlan | I think so, because I'd find it useful |
| quietone | Yes, and then easy to refer to in issue comments |
| kimb0 | plus one :+1: |
| lendude | Sounds good! |
| Tinto | Good idea. |
| ambermatz | Is there a similar need for accessibility review? |
| quietone | Good question. looking now |
| quietone | There is Test a patch or merge request for accessibility which in step 6 has a link to How to do an accessibility review?. So, we could start pointing to those in our comments. |
