I need to setup taxonomy so i can sort data by months and years. Should i add like 2008 term and then fill in months and then do the same for 2009 when it comes and so on and so on? Or is there some slick solution?

you don't need to set up
you don't need to set up taxonomy for post dates-- you can use the created date and the http://drupal.org/project/views and http://drupal.org/project/pathauto module to creates lists of posts at specific urls. See Creating Hackable URLs (Index Aliases) Using Pathauto and Views.
