Hi spflanze, I will just point you to this page:

Title: Fatal error on enable » Fatal error on enable on Windows server with PHP < 5.3
Version: 5.x-2.0 » 6.x-1.x-dev
Category: bug » feature
Status: Closed (duplicate) » Patch (to be ported)

Understand this is a duplicate issue. I do however sometimes test on a local Windows box even if the production server is *nix. Having to manually enable/disable/re-enable this module when copying DBs is a pain.

Perhaps just a warning issued? Attached is patch which does this (patched against 6.x-1.x-dev 2009-Mar-19).

And here is a screenshot of the warning message. ;)

Thanks for the patch. I applied it.

The point of the duplicate status is to keep all the information in one place, so i'll comment at http://drupal.org/node/119163
