Currently when anonymous users visit the /og Groups Directory and click to join a group they are told that they must first register and then join the group. This patch directs the users to the registration page when they click the 'join' link and subscribes them to the group they wished to join upon registration.

your description and your patch assume that the user needs to register. the fact is that the user needs to register *or log in*.

bump. This would be a great feature to improve usability. We have users who really struggle to join groups if they don't already have a user account.

@scedwar - You may want to consider using one of Organic Groups Registration Keys or Organic Groups Registration Codes.

Thanks - I've seen those, but they aren't really the problem that we're trying to solve. It is isn't the problem with finding the groups, it is just a problem of directing the an unregistered user through the process of registering and then back to the group.
