I have favorited a space, and it sent out notifications for a content type that is created/updated ect under that space.. which is great, but once I unfavorited that space it is still sending out notifications anytime something is created/updated under that space.

"Favorites" are different from "Subscriptions". Making a space Favorite just adds it to your Favorites menu, it doesn't affect notifications. When you go to a space and click the Subscribe or Follow button in the right sidebar, then it adds to notifications and you have to UnFollow the space to stop receiving those notifications.
