who is moving files: imce or drupal core when using imce "choose from server"

Drupal 7
file_sources and File (Field) Paths enabled

I have an normal image field, and a image at
/sites/default/files/subdir1

choosing the file with imce ( Allow users to select files from IMCE File Browser for this field. )
the file is moved either to the root directory or to the given Subdirectory f.e /sites/default/files/subdir2

I need the file to be unmoved in the original directory
