Pass nid to a Simple Dialog box

I am using the Simple Dialog module.

I am trying to pass a parameter from the link page to the target page, which opens in a dialog box. I tried with a url parameter on the target path ?node=9091 below, but though I can pick this up with drupal_get_query_parameters() when I open the target page directly, nothing appears when the target is opened as a pop-up.

This guy has manged to it - so it must be possible.

Any thoughts on how to do this ? Thanks.
