Initial zoom to be overwritten on filter?

I've got a view with a lot of points - i'd like the initial zoom to be to a fixed level and ideally on a fixed lat/lon so excluding distant markers, but when exposed filters are used, revert to "auto-box to fit all markers" (fitBounds, i think) - is that possible?
