However, I can't tell from the module page or the release notes what changed from the 1.x branch to the 2.x branch, so I'm hesitant to upgrade, given that the site appears stable using the 1.x branch.

gielfeldt CreditAttribution: gielfeldt commentedThe 2.x was a refactoring of 1.x and has some bugs fixed and is better tested. Can't remember more than that in details.
