If you expose sort criteria but don't expose sort order (i.e by selecting Allow people to choose the sort order in the exposed form options) the option to Display exposed sort options as links or radio buttons does not work. It should be possible to format the display of sort criteria (sort by) when the sort order (ascending or descending) is not exposed.
