I recently started a intranet site that is still in development, and I need assistance with the forum module. I noticed that the forum module doesn't allow you to set specific permissions to each sub-forum. I would like to have the ability to make different rules for different sub-forums. For example, I would like to allow only a certain number of people to have full permissions to add topics to the news sub-forum.
I checked the people permissions, but I only see permissions for forums topics in general; not a specific forum. I did some searching and someone was mentioning the advanced forum module; however, the latest commit was a while ago and doesn't seem be to as actively developed. Does anyone know a way to implement permissions to specific sub-forums? Furthermore, is there a way to make groups which only have access to certain sub-forums, whereas they appear hidden to anyone not within those groups?
Please let me know. Thanks! I am on Drupal 8.3.

You would require a contrib module for this. there were a few for D7 but status for D8, I can't say. That's where I'd start.
Note: You're on the razor's edge with D8. many contrib modules have not yet caught up to D8 forward momentum. If the features you've described here and in other posts are important to what you are building, you may wan to reconsider stepping back to D7.
