I realize this is going to be a controversial request, but not everything Acquia does is automatically related to Drupal. After #2867588: Misleading advertisments above the fold on Drupal core release notes, I think the community needs to push back when policies already exist that prohibit this type of thing.

The community should also be consistent in how we apply Drupal.org policies. Similar to what causes Appnovation's temporary suspension in #2866729: Fix content of Appnovation Feed, the word "Drupal" doesn't even appear in https://dev.acquia.com/blog/acsf--lift-managing-multilingual-and-global-....

It's fine if Acquia wants to diversify the solutions they sell and/or distance the fact that some of their products are rebranded forms of Drupal, but those posts don't belong on in the Drupal.org Planet feed. Acquia is making no attempt to filter out posts that are purely commercial product promotion or relate the content of the post back to Drupal for the planet audience.

Drupal.org and the planet feed do not exist to bring an audience of potential customers to vendors and all vendors need to respect the policies in place or be subject to having their content removed.

Agreed with @kreynen, there should be consistency. Let's get Acquia to fix the highlighted issue (or) let there be a temporary suspense

Sorry, was super busy the last weeks and missed this completely. Has there been another infraction in the meantime?

https://dev.acquia.com/blog/acsf--lift-managing-multilingual-and-global-... was posted on May 4 and has the same issue. I believe the lack of references to Drupal is part of Acquia's marketing strategy and we are only going to see more of this which is why I'd like to get it corrected.

While I personally understand that Pipelines related to hosting Drupal sites because I know that is primarily what Acquia hosts, the post doesn't actually say that. Acquia is well within their rights to rebrand Drupal as an Acquia product in their marketing materials, but the entire community funds Drupal.org and volunteers time to maintain features like the Planet feed.

The community is well within our rights to demand that Acquia includes information about the how their products relate to Drupal or use options other than the Planet feed to promote them. Accroding to https://www.drupal.org/drupalorg/docs/content/planet-drupal, content that doesn't fit Planet Drupal includes "General web development and programming posts that only mention Drupal in passing."

Acquia continues to push content to the Planet feed that doesn't even include the work Drupal let alone mention it "in passing".

I am monitoring this situation and hopefully I am going to be more availabel for drupal.org work from now on. Please ping this issue if you notice similar behavior again.

Another post about a commercial service offered by Acquia that doesn't even mention the word "drupal".

https://dev.acquia.com/blog/acquia-jumpstarts-datadriven-personalization...

I think I've made the case that Acquia's marketing department is either oblivious to the Planet feed policies and intends on pushing all Acquia posts to the Drupal planet feed whether or not it has anything to do with Drupal to increase the number of people who see these ads in the form of a blog post.

I agree. I've suspended the feed and removed it content. See #2554787: Add dev.acquia.com to Planet Drupal

Hi, just noticed this issue.

Good points, and apologies for any inappropriate content.

We will filter out ALL non-Drupal content from now on.

Drupal.org Planet is a valuable resource, and fun to read to boot, so we're 100% behind anything that makes it better, and more useful to readers.

Sincerely,

DC Denison
senior editor, Technology

Cool, could you please untag the post from the 27th? After that I can get you back on Planet Drupal.

dcdenison’s picture

Hi, sorry for the delay -- the loooong Fourth of July weekend in the States!

Just edited that post, and untagged it. We should be all set.

Let me know if there are any lagging details I should take care of.

And from now on I'll make sure only Pure 100% Drupal posts get tagged for Planet Drupal.

Thanks!

DC
