Hi!
This project has not seen any commits to the code base in 7 years, even though there are a number of significant issues in the issue queue. I am wondering if the maintainers still plan to work on this project after all that time or if they would be so kind to mark they project as needing new maintainers?

Per the Dealing with unsupported (abandoned) projects guidelines if I do not here back within two weeks time I will be filing an issue to have this project marked as abandoned.

Thanks for your time and understanding in this matter!

Hi Frederick,

Thanks a lot for your updates on the state of the module.

Is there any reason why nobody stepped in to take over the maintenance of the module?
Since it is marked as unsupported is there any replacement or has the "demo" initiative moved elsewhere?

In other words is there any replacement for this module?
I believe it used to provide an appropriate solution for certain use cases (listed on project's page) and I used to find it quite practical.
In short, if we're not using demo anymore, what should we use?

Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

Hi @DYdave!

Sorry, I think there is a bit of confusion here. I am not a maintainer of this project. Per the guidelines I was reaching out to sun and smk-ka who are the maintainers to see what their plans are.

I looks like they have had at least two weeks to respond to this issue and have not done so. I will be filling an issue to have this project marked as abandoned.

So, to answer your question I would not recommend using it the demo module. Some of the current issues result in data loss.

As to what to use I have not given it a lot of thought but using Drush (Drupal shell) to export the database so that you can later import the older version and clear the cache. This is pretty much what this module was doing lately poorly with a GUI.

I hope that answers your question.

OK, no need to file an issue to get the project marked as abandoned, as the project is already marked an unsupported, which means abandoned.

Thanks @frederickjh for your very clear and speedy reply.

Nobody wants to maintain the module?

I could potentially take over, if needed, at least get the pending patches committed and the critical/major issues fixed in the first step.
That should get back the module on track and supported, at least working fine.
Looks like somebody else already started stepping in anyway: #2886845: [Demo]Offering to maintain Demonstration Site.

Current maintainers (@sun and @smk-ka) might have dropped the maintenance of this module, but it doesn't mean it has become useless, irrelevant or that we can't maintain it ourselves. I guess these maintainers are probably very busy working on other projects which require much more attention and they don't necessarily have the time to take care of demo anymore.

What do you think? Shall I step in as well?

Thanks again very much for your replies and advice.
Cheers!

@DYdave, Whether you want to take on the module is your own decision. I have no interest. Follow the guidelines at Dealing with unsupported (abandoned) projects if you are interested.

Closing this issue as the question this issue poses has been answered. No, it is not being maintained.

God bless!
