EVA appears to filter out HTML insertet with "Rewrite output"

I rendered two Views Fields into one with the rewrite Output function (named slightly different in Drupal 8). To be able have wrappers for formatting around each field I Inserted two divs and a span into the textarea for the rewritten output.
In the resulting markup, the divs and span do not appear.
