h1. Steps to reproduce

* Launch site on simplytest.me using 7.x branch https://simplytest.me/project/drupal/7.x
* Login as administrator
* Go to the page "admin/config/media/file-system"
* Look for the help text "See the online handbook for more information about securing private files." in Private file system path section
* Click in the "more information about securing private files" link and you get to D8's documentation.

Hello,

I notice that the page 'admin/config/media/file-system' cointains a link to the documentation that point to the page 'http://drupal.org/documentation/modules/file'.
By now, the above link redirect to 'https://www.drupal.org/docs/8/core/modules/file/overview', that is incosistent since
I think the correct way to fix this must be to set the link to 'https://www.drupal.org/docs/7/core/modules/file/overview'.

I tested the patch

I used simpletest.me with the url: http://simplytest.me/project/drupal/7.x?patch[]=https://www.drupal.org/f...

When I click on the link, this redirects to the correct drupal 7 documentation.

Committed to 7.x - thanks!

This does, however, seem to be a more widespread problem. It looks like drupal.org changed how its URLs work at some point, which had the effect of breaking lots of links in the Drupal 7 documentation.... I'm going to check to see if there's another issue for this, and if not, file one.

OK, apparently there are a lot of issues about the general problem already (although many of them are focused more on Drupal 8):
