I am using an entity reference in a view; and I am linking to the referenced entity from a label. No view mode can be selected although more than one would be available for the referenced entity (e.g. Default, Teaser).

Setup: Drupal 8.2.5, DS 8.x-2.6, Layout plug-in 8.x-1.0-alpha23, Bootstrap Layouts 8.x-3.1, others...

I would expect the following (controllable) behaviour:

1) Select a view mode in case more than one mode is available (most desirable)
2) Using the "Default" view mode in case of ambiguity (simple approach, possibly quick fix)

Currently it appears that the view mode is picked randomly when linking to the referenced entity.

As a quick fix, can I patch the target view mode somewhere in the database?

It does currently link to the primary entity page which is usually on default (I didn't know it was possible to change that in fact). So this seems much more like a feature request than a bug.
