Short array syntax is used in at least one place (templates/date/date-views-pager.vars.php line 43), but a minimum PHP version is not provided in bootstrap.info.
Without that "php" entry in the .info file, the theme is effectively advertising that it conforms to the core minimum php version (DRUPAL_MINIMUM_PHP, 5.2.9), but causes a parse error on anything less than php5.4 when an affected file is included.
If using newer syntax was intentional, "php = 5.4" should be added to bootstrap.info; if not, the syntax should be updated with good old array() in place of []
