Hi, I am currently working in Drupal 8 Commerce and wanted to save here also with BaM the backups on the server.

Although the private path in D-8.2.6 works wonderfully $ settings ['file_private_path'] = '.private';, Backup and Migrate does not recognize it.

Is this a bug or is the error with me?

With D7 had at any rate with this point in advance (.private> protects the directory) works wonderfully.

Can you try upgrading to the new 8.x-4.0-alpha2 and seeing if you can duplicate the problem? Also, you may want to check this issue: Add Backup Destination: "Directory Path" field is gone

I just pushed a patch which fixes some directory issues. This should be working now. Please reopen if it's not working for your use case.
