The department of Earth Sciences of the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre-Centro Nacional de Supercomputación (BSC-CNS), BSC-ES henceforth (http://bsc.es/earth-sciences), has become from its creation in 2006 a reference in the field of air quality and atmospheric composition modelling. The Climate Forecast Unit of the Institut Català de Ciènces del Clima (IC3-CFU, http://ic3.cat/) was created in 2010 and quickly evolved into one of the most active and recognised groups performing research and climate prediction and services in Europe. The IC3-CFU was lead from its creation by Prof. Francisco J.Doblas-Reyes. The department is structured in four groups: climate prediction, atmospheric composition, computational earth sciences and earth system services. Our group is the last one, we focus on topics like advance and tailor-state-of-the-art research based on user-defined needs, service development and ensure optimal knowledge and technology transfer to users.
