I have opted to move javascript to the footer and want to configure an exclusion for Google Analytics tracking code, as this needs to be placed in the head

Under Exclude JavaScript files, I have google_analytics/*.js but this is not working for me.

Any suggestions of what I am doing wrong?

Are we talking about an inline or external file? Magic is meant for the files added by different modules, I don't believe it is meant to remove external files.

Ah. Gotcha. I am unable to debug right now because I do not have a working Drupal site. If there is some code/db that I can use from somebody— I would be happy to do some debugging.
