Hi,
for security reasons, in many sites, i use to put private directory outside of root. I tried several ways but it seems backup & migrate makes the backup only for directory in root. Or there is something I miss?

It should work. Works when I test it. Can you give me some more info on your setup? Where's the webroot? Where's the private directory? What did you try?

Please try upgrading to the new 7.x-3.2 version and see if this resolves your issue.
