Had a working calendar with some linked event in it with version 8.x-1.x-dev.
Just updated to latest dev and get this error:
Error: Call to a member function getGranularity() on boolean in Drupal\calendar\CalendarHelper::getDisplayForGranularity() (line 850 of modules/calendar/src/CalendarHelper.php).
I attached the full error message.

Noticed that with Chrome it worked ok but not in Firefox and IE.
In Chrome it worked ok both as admin and as a user.
In Firefox and IE I could display the Calendar as admin but not as a regular user.
I used the same user in all three browsers and it only worked with Chrome.
With the same admin account (1) all three could display the calendar.
