A common concern for site builders related to stock "availability" is the support of "backorder" ability for products or types or products. I suspect another module will be responsible, but maybe commerce_stock will provide or help support this feature request. Thoughts? (Linking the 7.x issue for history/consideration since it hasn't been committed).
